The Sleeping Ladies
This series began with my fascination for a Neolithic figure discovered in Malta — a symbol of Mother Earth. Her resting form, carved thousands of years ago, speaks to fertility, resilience, and the quiet strength of stillness.
In my interpretation, The Sleeping Ladies become soft, sculptural silhouettes surrounded by warm, grounding colors. They are meditations on rest as power and stillness as transformation.

I’m Cécile Marie Mathis, the artist behind ArtCe. My paintings are born from a blend of Swiss–Argentinian roots, bold colors, and layered textures. Each one is an emotional dialogue between myself and the canvas — and an open invitation for you to join in.
I create abstract paintings that speak in layers — of color, of texture, of memory. My work is shaped by gorgeous landscapes I’ve called home: the wide skies of Patagonia, the quiet mountains of Switzerland, the warmth of my birthplace in Buenos Aires. Each canvas evolves as a conversation between instinct and intention, allowing space for your own story to unfold within it.
